GPC Logistics
Logistics
Facing outwards
The Eastern European family group GPC Logistics is developing its overseas operations…
and also brings a touch of English to its name.
The GPC Group is changing its facade, but not its soul. Its new visual identity, in shades of gray and yellow, was unveiled this spring. It brings together the various entities, each with its own distinct history, even more closely under the same banner and entails a slight name change. GPC Logistique (120 employees, €14 million in revenue) is now GPC Logistics. So much for the fervent defenders of the French language, especially since the group's new tagline is "Your custom-made supply chain," but market realities dictate their own rules. This semantic shift notably reflects the growth of its overseas business. This activity represented 28% of 2017 revenue (20,5% by sea and 7,8% by air), thus surpassing chartering and road transport, which each account for slightly less than 15% of the total. “Overseas is our segment with the most consistent growth in recent years,” confirmed Pascal Carrier, president of the group whose name bears his initials. Logistics, which remains the primary area of activity
(42% last year), has experienced more irregular growth. It has rebounded after a less successful period marked by customer relocations away from GPC's playing fields, or by their re-internalization of the function.
Overseas operations are handled by the Roissy and Le Havre agencies. As for logistics, it is carried out on the Molsheim (Bas-Rhin) site of 7.000 m2 and the Lavau site near Troyes (Aube) of 24.000 m2, inherited from the respective takeovers of the Feidt and Stralog companies.
Lavau has developed specialties in textile logistics (the Troyes basin is a stronghold), agri-food (Ferrero chocolates) and wines and spirits. “Generally speaking, we are successful in logistics thanks to our responsiveness and ability to manage the entire chain, from packaging to shipping worldwide,” Pascal Carrier points out.
